 Urja Joshi is currently earning her MA in South Asian Studies. She is a student at Columbia University’s Graduate School of Arts and Sciences with the South Asia Institute. Her research interests pertain to exploring how religious practices in India create a hybridization of religions that have the potential to challenge and redefine the ways in which we understand “religion.” Her undergraduate thesis, titled “Hindu Mythology is not Mythology: Philosophy of the Puranas according to Dharma,” has been published in the research journal of her undergraduate institution, the University of North Texas. In addition to coursework, she is also pursuing fluency in Hindi and currently holds a Foreign Language and Area Studies Fellowship from Columbia University.
